Inaugurated in 2006, the annual Corangamarah Art Prize was conceived to provide the newly built Corangamarah Residential Care facility in Colac, regional Victoria, with colour and life. The notion of developing a collection of art for residents was extended to creating a narrative of our time; weaving a story around present-day issues that will provoke discussion and be enjoyed by members of the local Colac and greater Victorian communities.
The acquisitive Corangamarah Art Prize is growing to be an exciting opportunity for contemporary artists, and local community. Artists throughout Australia are invited to submit an artwork which has been inspired by a contemporary issue or event, demonstrated through the Prize theme “conceit”; a “concept; that which is conceived, imagined or formed in the mind. An idea, thought, image, a personal opinion”
Artists may interpret the event in any medium of two dimensional format, illustrating the inspiration of the conceit.
In order to maintain a high standard of artistic and interpretive merit, all entries will be subject to a process of pre-selection. A three person judging panel will select finalists, from which the finalist judge will select the winning entry. Finalists will be exhibited at the Otway Estate Winery & Brewery, Barongarook Victoria.
